ok, finally finish the Korean drama "stairway to heaven" in this week, it was a super sad ending, those who like sad but romance drama should watch it!
i still remember how when the drama was still on air in channel 8 few years back, my friends and i were watching it, and i will always imitate as the main leading actor, and she will always imitate as the leading female actress in school, oh it was super funny lah... can you imagine we calling each other names? but anyway it in the past, i hope she is doing well now!

let study the painting abit, shall we?
Focus: center of the picture, where the staircase ended
1) there is a main focus point in the picture, which is in the center of the painting as you can see, the staircase is from the right-hand side leading to the center of the painting
2) at the bottom of painting, there is a couple staring straight into the sky which is directly at the bottom of the center of the painting
3) the clouds is hovering at the top of the painting, but somewhere at the top of the center of the painting, the clouds separate into 2 part as something was in the middle
ok, all the 3 points i said give the audience a sense of mystery and anticipation as what lies ahead in center of the painting where the clouds separate into 2 (staircase ended); as what lies ahead as you journey through the staircase with you love ones to heaven, it give the audience room for imaginations as what does heaven look like? A place where love exists? freedom exists? no sadness? no separation? a place where lovers will eventually meet after they die?
next let look at the colour choice the painter uses, the painter use warm and heart-felt colours like brown and yellow, other than the grass and staircase which is yellowish-green, so basically the painter is trying to express warmth through the colour he use to paint this painting!
Thus when we look at the painting, somehow we are attracted to the painting because the colour are warmth and heart-felt, and the colours the painter choose are not very bright as you can see, the painter uses darker shades and tones of brown and yellow, thus we feel abit sad when we see the painting, as in like the couple is going to be separated, one partner journey through the staircase to heaven while the other remain on earth, so the feeling we feel are separation!
but different people have different ways of interpreting it, some may interpret it as the couple is going to go heaven together, but we can only interpret as much as we see, but the real motive and purpose behind the painting, only the painter knows!
ok, i shall stop here, this is what i learn in JC when i take H2 Art, we study Art history and stuffs and i miss the time where the teacher ask us to draw our self, our portrait and still-life drawing, but nevertheless, i always hand in late for assignment and getting scolded by her... haha, update you guys soon! hope you like what i share about the painting although i am not that good yet!
